Arkansas Irrigation Yield Contest
The Most Crop per Drop Irrigation Contest measures yield divided by total water use of rain plus irrigation. The winner with the highest water use efficiency or most crop per drop wins. There are three commodity categories.
To request a portable flowmeter for the contest, see your local Extension office, NRCS field office, or Conservation District office. UA has 50 flowmeters available for loan. Field must be a minimum of 30 acres, meter must be sealed by UA before first irrigation. Allow 5 days for UA to seal and read meter. Zero grade fields are not eligible. Cost to enter the contest is $100 payable to University of Arkansas. Register for contest by submitting entry form to RREC 2900 Hwy 130 East, Stuttgart, AR 72160. Registration should include: entry form and FSA form 578, a map of the field showing field border, water source and direction of fall. Entry forms must be postmarked by June 30, 2019.
