Riceland Sustainability Coordinator

Trevor Freemyer, native of Stuttgart, drove by Riceland Foods Inc. headquarters most of his life – not knowing that this place would be the start of his professional career. Unsure of what career path to take after college, he sought guidance from a few influential people and landed back in his hometown as a sustainability coordinator for Riceland Foods, Inc.

“If you were to ask 10 people what sustainability was, you would probably get 10 different answers.”

He graduated with a degree in agricultural economics from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. While attending the University of Arkansas, Trevor obtained a summer internship with Sen. Mark Pryor in Washington D.C. During this time, he learned the importance of public service and saw first-hand how our state’s congressman work, diligently, to make sure Arkansans are being heard on Capitol Hill.

As a sustainability coordinator, Trevor utilizes research and technology to assist producers with sustainable practices and long-term management. He educates consumers by using field print calculators, which is a unique visual of a particular field’s history over the last 30 years. The calculator measures key performance indicators such as land use, soil erosion, green gas submissions and irrigation water applied.

“Anything Riceland can do to gather information for advocacy or tools pertaining to sustainability, we are all for it.”
